Message: There's only 1 choice........the Mopar Performance PCM. None of the others will change the rev and speed limiters. None of them are a "magic" bullet. The Mopar Performance PCM will improve the drivability and makes a big difference where you normally drive the truck.

Message: I am using a Jet chip Stage 1 in my 5.9L 2001 Quad Cab. I can tell a noticeable power increase!! Jet chip claims around 25 HP increase. Also, I believe my truck runs better on 87 octane gas with the chip than it does on 93 octane. I was advised by Martell Bros Racing to get a Stage 1 chip rather than a Stage 2 (more agressive). I'm pleased with my chip, but I'll always wonder what more performace would have been produced by the Stage 2!!!! With the R/T, you would want the Stage 2.
AS far as the speed limitations, I was told the chip would remove the speed limiter. I was involved with a "hit and run" high speed chase before I had my chip. My truck cut out at 110 MPH. I have not had any reason to see if it will go faster now. I guess I should check it... (By the way, I was chasing the hit and run guy. He eventually was caught by 13 police units and got 45 days in jail. WOW)

Message: Guys:
What will the mopar chip or the Jet chip do for the truck? I have a 01 R/T standard cab.
Horse power increase?
Better gas mileage?
More tourque?
How much do they cost?
What are the down side to the chips?
Have to run premium gas all the time?
Where can I get them? Dealership for the mopar I suppose. What about Jet Chip?
Thanks

Message: Can't answer the question about the JET, but i can tell you that Mopar will NOT be producing an aftermarket PCM for the 2001's. Apparently they couldnt' get the PCM's to pass emissions, so they've pulled development on them as it was too expensive.
I'm guessing that the JET chip just bumps the timing, but that's just a guess.

Message: Jet chips are worthless. I was drag racing at the time and it did absolutely nothing. To the guy who says he can feel the difference, I say take it to the strip and run it with and without and you will see no loss or gain in 60 ft, 330 ft, 1/8mi, 1000ft or1/4 mi. There won't even be a difference in trap speeds. A year later I put the Mopar PCM in and it changed my shift points higher and lowered my ETs by about two tenths.

Message: The JET stage II chip does work in the R/T. The fastest normally asperated R/T's use a Mopar PCM/JetII combo to get their times. The JET chip advances timing at lower RPMs and the Mopar at higher RPMs. Together they work great.
Personally, I like the Spicier Nacho Dorito's in my truck

Message: I also have a 99 R/T. I put the Jet stage 2 in and noticed a little more upper rpm power. But that was only for a short time. The computer "learns" the Jet chip and eventually brings back the settings to stock again or even worse. I ran a best 15.48 @ 89 with JET 2
.....and ...... 15.01 @ 92 without.
Same traction , conditions , everything. You be the judge.
I dont know about piggy-backing a Jet on top of a MP PCM. But the Jet by itself is crap. DO NOT waste your $$$. Just look how many are on ebay. I got 50 for mine.

Message: What ever you do. dont run a Jet chip in an R/T, it actually puts too much timing in at higher rpms and causes a slight detenation. Which actually results in less horsepower. You will see anywhere from 3 to 10 hp loss
