Subject: Twin Turbo Dakota... GMAN continued IP: Logged
Message: Well, I got an interesting email today!
------
Well Scitech is no longer in business the owner retired. The kit that was on the 4.7 was actually taken off my truck which was the 3.9 and converted to fit the 4.7. I am over seas for the next six months and can not provide any info or pics for you on how it was done.
------
So I guess that literally blows the 3.9L cannot handle twin turbo theories out the window! Anyone have more info on GMAN's TWIN TURBO 4.7L?

Message: No more info but, I do remember that truck. It ran 10's or low 11's and on a 65mm Fastman V6 throttle body. That shows that alot of people are going a little overboard with the size of their throttle body. I would like to see a twin turbo kit for the 4.7 (or even a single turbo). If there were a bolt on kit, I would buy it.

Message: The BS flag is flying all the way up on that claim. There's absolutely no way that GMAN's rig went 10s. 13's MAYBE!

Message: It is a shame SCITech retired and did not pass on this knowledge.
Not to upset anyone, we need cooperation on this! But,I agree on the BS... Duner in a post on 4/24/2002 states:
----------------
According to my handy online performance calculator - you will need about 600 rwhp to get to 10.99. If you are starting out from stock and expecting the twin-turbos to get you there you might be disappointed. To get to 600 rwhp from approximately 200 stock rwhp will require about 45 lbs of boost. That might be a tall order with stock cast pistons..... you might want to ask the guys at Sci-Tech a few more questions.
-------------------
In an a related matter to retiring... imagine how much knowledge has been lost in the last ten years alone to, retiring medical researchers who just throw away their work. This is a similar case here with the turbos. If you do not want to work, SCITech, please pass on the info to someone else!

Message: are yall talking about the TT 3.9 from long ago? I know there was one running in the 11's but everything was custom. I think they only thing stock was the block... maybe crankshaft.
It had twin turbos and a good does of nitrous. I believe the truck no longer exists not because the 3.9 couldnt handle it.. but because the truck was totaled in a wreck.

Message: You mean two stage turbo right? 4 cylinder blocks are inline, so, therefore there are not two exhaust paths but one. Unless you run a "hairlip" headder I guess. I don't know, but I think I'd like to see a "twin turbo" 4 banger....
So I could laugh my ass off if nothing else.
