Message: oddly enough, I ran my 99 CC 4x4 318 through NJ inspection and they never put it on the dyno or sniffed the tailpipe. They just jacked into the OBD-II port and then I was on my way.
So, I'm thinking that if someone were to make an interface to show all happy readings at the port, you could run a carb for all they'd know :-)

Message: AS long as it doesn't throw a code it will pass, they don't sniff tailpipes on OBDII cars. Just plug and go.

Message: its not just if it throws a code, it reads what the computer is doing and what the o2 sensors read

Message: But if any sensors go out of parameter they through a code. So if it doesn't throw a code it will pass.
I'm running the 1.7 roller rockers on mine ie. bigger cam, and it passes just fine.
The test is way to fast to be indepth.
As long as you don't go to wild on the cam and the computer can compensate for it, there shouldn't be a problem. You are limited anyways unless you reprogram the PCM.
