 Subject: Gen1 Dak want to put on a Hemi

Im looking at putting a hemi in my 88' dak long bed 239 3.9L. Kind of tired of only cranking 100 at the wheels. Want i want to know is what size hemi would fit best with a gen 1?, I've got a budget for about 5k so i can afford it (I think). I know about reinforcing the frame a stronger drive shaft and rear end to handle the extra torque. But what i really want to know is what size? Should i go with a 426 or 350? or is there another size i should use? I know theres nothing like the legend of the 426 but i dont know if it would fit, without me having to extend the front end more than 10". Theres a size limit to trucks before they become considered "weighted" in my area. Any help would be awesome Thanx

The 440 Wedge and 426 Hemi will fit without a front-end extension, but what about the first gen. Chrysler Hemis? The 331/354/392's have all the buildup potential of the later engines. The 355hp 354 Hemi was the first to boast 1hp per cubic inch....a year before the 283 Chevy that so often is cited as the first. Big Daddy Don Garlits built his career on these engines. Check it out.

i see that i have a lot of choices. Gas milege i could care less about. I make enough money to blow on this so i have plenty for gas. Hey at least its not a hummer ;-). What would u recomend for shear raw power, torque, and -11 second and lower 1/4 miles and it still be street legal in my area 950 or lower hp and 95 db exhaust limit. so i guess that means no blower :-p. so for supercharge and possible intercooling purposes what would be best in ur opinion? and how should i inject the fuel mixture? DPI or Carborated? Thanx gen1dak. Uve been much help since i first got my 88.

oops i meant EFI injection :-p im not completey sure if u can do direct port on a hemi
