 Subject: S-10 looking for a race

For 3 weekends stright, I have had a guy in a S-10 pull in next to me at the local cruse-in and talk crap about how his chevy will murder my dodge. last week, i got him to pop his hood, and he has a compleatly stock 4.3 v6 in a standard cab short bed S10. I have an 02 RC dak sport, w/ the 4.7, 5 speed, 3.55 LSD. i have exhaust and a homebrew intake. Ive asked around and everyone seems to think he is really as dumb as he sounds, my question is, if i race him like he wants, will it be as short of a show as it seams? thanks in advance

Your basically stock 4.7, 5 spd manual, it is a manual, right? If so, you'll beat him no problem. Go for it.

You say it is a basically stock S-Dime with a 4.3L V-6. The only problem you will have is you will keep letting up on the gas waiting for him to get up beside you to race and find out later he was mashed to the floor. It is a terrible site for the Chuvy. Especially you being a Regular Cab 4.7L 5 Speed. Ask him to at least bolt in a 100 shot so you can at least feel like it is a fair race.

Go for it! I wouldn't hesitate to run an s10 with my CC 4x4 4.7L AUTO!! and I have 3:55 LSD and am turning 31 inch tires :-) you should murder him! And you will look/sound better in the process ;-P

take him out, right after i got my 2001 qc with the 5.9 there was a little punk in a s-10 extreme next to me at the light it just seemed that he was looking for trouble (he had his girlfriend with him too trying to be a bad ass) so he was reving it up i guess to try and scare me with his rice burner sounding exhaust, but when the light turned green it was all over for him. my truck was bone stock back then and i had my wife and two kids in the truck with me, and it sounded like he had an intake kit and he actually chirped 2nd gear
I ran up to about 60mph and slowed down to let him catch up, but he must have been to ashamed to see me again because he would not come back next to me.

hub caps back on and give it back to your dad."
Then just drive off like you're looken for
a REAL truck to race.

2)Let someone neutral hold the cash and go for it.

Well, that statement is in itself contradictory. A real S-10 does not have a 350. A real S-10 has a 4 or 6 cylinder.
And what is it with all these other people coming on here and talking crap about Fords and Chevys? Are they just looking for an a$$ whoopin'?!

So you have a modded out 350 in a S-10 big deal. There are plenty of guys around with modded 360's that have been stroked out to a 408 all nice and pretty. Initially i think we were talking about stock trucks with bolt ons. With enough $$$ any truck can be made faster than some other truck that is on another website.

Yeah, and I used to own one too. Sold it, bought a Dak and never regret getting rid of the S-10. The raw power of the 350 S-10 was fun, but it wasn't even close to being a daily driver. The Dak is a good mix of power and daily driver, can't say that about the S-10.
02dak is talking about racing a pukey weak S-10, not a purpose built race truck. Go pick on the guys at the track ;)

HEY ED!
I destroyed an S-10 with a V8. Probably had exhaust only but still slow as hell. He wasn't happy when my stock dak was 2 lengths ahead @ 45 MPH.
That was when I had an HB intake as my only mod.
