Message: I'm just curious to hear from any of you guys about the gas pedal on genIII daks. i have a 99 4x4 sport 3.9 auto CC w/ 3.9 rear end, and when I first bought it i could easily see what people were talking about when they said wide open throttle sucks on it.. My friend drove it (with me in the car) and i told him to floor it and it didnt go anywhere.. I floored it again some other day , but i pushed REALLY HARD on the gas and i heard a "click" sound that was very slight and the motor just screamed and took off and kept the rpms way up there ( i` have a transgo shift kit too). So I was wondering why the throttle is like this cuz ive never seen it on a car/truck before. Its like theres a secret extra half inch of pedal space that makes all the difference, cuz you really gotta push hard.. I yold me friend to really push hard and he felt like he was beeing too rough but then it took off again and he was like "weird".. sorry Im rambling... im just curious why the WOT is so hard to get into thanks

Message: I have noticed this, too - I thought I was flooring it already but pushed it even harder and then really took off! Didn't discover this until I'd had it about a month or so. It really does seem like a secret 1/2" extra.

Message: I could be wrong but I think it's the shift cable that is connected to the TB. If you notice there are two cables attached to the TB. One is obviously the throttle cable and the other is a cable that downshifts when the pedal is floored. I once accidently broke the shift cable thinking it was the throttle cable. I was suprised to find that pressing the pedal still opened the TB. I drove around for awhile and noticed no difference at all. Apparently it has to be floored all the way for anything to happen which would explain why I noticed no difference as I was driving to the parts store for a new cable.
