Subject: throttle "searching" (TPS)? IP: Logged
Message: Just for reference, I'm listing the changes I've made to my truck.
K&N intake
Ported TB 728CFM (1.5" Hg)
Ported cylinder heads
1.7 Comp Cams Roller Rockers
JBA headers and exhaust
TPS mod (still tweaking)
Plenum pan repair w/ 1/4" thick aluminum plate
Edelbrock IAS shocks
Moog upper ball joints
Powerslot rotors
Hawk brake pads
180' thermostat
MSD 6 ignition
MSD 8.5mm wires
MSD blaster coil
Accel cap/rotor
Autolite cold plugs
When I step on it and go hard throttle up to the highest gears, I'm having throttle issues. It'll hit high gear, then shift down, shift up, shift down.. probably only a second between each. It causes the truck to surge forward/back. Could this merely be a matter of adjusting the TPS? I've got it in the .7 range now (don't remember the exact setting).
Thanks for any help!
Mark

Message: You have a link?
Are you talking about the torque converter? I know the TPS voltage affects this. I'm just not sure which way I would have to adjust it.

Message: I should have mentioned that it shifts just fine through all gears and into overdrive if I don't race up to speed. This problem only happens when I step on it and only at the higher gears. I just have to let off the gas a bit and things return to normal.
Thanks,
Mark

Message: Take it to a dodge dealer. Ask about Transmission computer flash upgrade. There is one for my 2003 trany and you WILL notice the improved preformance when you step on it.

Message: I figured out the problem. You'll never believe it, and it was an easy fix. Apparently when I put everything back together, a couple of the grounds weren't making good contact. On my '97 there are three wires going to the power steering bracket. Two for the PCM and another, I believe, is the main ground. They were attached, but I sanded the metal a bit and now they're fine. Stupid thing. The truck fires up and runs perfectly again.
Budfan, does yours start hard as well? Mine was turning over more slowly than normal sometimes too.
