Bassically all spark knock or pinging is, is the predetonation of the fuel before the piston gets to top dead center without the spark plugs help of igniting the fuel in most cases... This robs power, fuel mileage, and can eternally ruin any motor because the fuel is igniting or exploding "without the spark plugs help" and this is putting a twisting effect on the piston causing scarring and so forth on the cylinder walls... The website can explain everything much much better, but probably what yours is doing is the timing is advanced too much for the octane level in your fuel... Hope I didn't confuse you worse...
