I was looking to getting system for my truck and found the best deal was from krc performance, the kit includes MSD 6A, Taylor 8mm wires and Accel brass cap and rotor for $249. I noticed that the kit does not come with the blaster ss coil. My question is what excatly does it do, and should I get it when I get the kit. I want to do it all the right way, and didnt know if this would help alot or is not nessary or what. I figure if im going to do it, I should do it right. Thanks for the info.

What is your goal? What are you putting this on? What are you going to do with it?

With that set up, the stock coil will work just fine. There's no advantage to an aftermarket coil.

Also, assuming you current system is in good working order, you won't be gaining any power. It may start a little easier, and probably idle and run at low speeds just a tad better. But you won't pick up any hp.

Really??? Krc dynoed the 6A at like 11hp or
something. My current system works fine, and
if im not going to gain any power, then maybe
ill get a roll pan.....hmmm.

I have heard varying things about the MSD or any other aftermarket ignition setup. Some claim little to no gains on lightly modded motors, others claim the opposite.

I am putting a complete MSD setup on my 92 this weekend. Mopar branded 6AL, MSD wires, Blaster SS coil, MSD coil wire, Accel cap and rotor and the MSD RFI noise filter for good measure, since I have heard of several people losing ignitions without it. More of a problem with the Digital 6 over the 6AL, but I got a good deal on ebay.

Total cost for me was $280 for everything. I got the 6AL and RFI filter off ebay, the coil wire locally from a speedshop and the rest from Summit Reacing. If you check ebay you can find a couple Mopar branded MSD6AL ignitions for sale. I got mine for $125. These are Mopar parts, painted black with the Mopar logo on them, not MSD. It was cheaper than a regular MSD6AL, and I liked the look better than the red anyway.

I'v seen the mopar ones on ebay... I think that
MSD makes them, which is good because you
say their cheaper. Let me know if you notice
any differences over the stock setup. Thanks

The people who sell them claim a power gain. What a surprise. So do the people who sell the Fuel Atomizer, and the the Tornado. It may very well be true, but so far nobody has proven it.

Do a little research on the web and see what you find out. CD multiple spark systems can improve driveability, and make starting easier in late model emissions controlled engines. They really help in high rpm's, forced induction, nitrous, etc. But if you think it's going to make more hp in a stock combustion chamber, you need to think again. It's just not going to happen.

But is a CD MSD box a good addtion to your machine? Yeah, it probably is. Driveability, smooth idle, easy start. All good reasons. More power? Prove it.
