Message: Opie, I'd like to see the pics for how the GSM system routes around the 4x4 components. The GSM website does not show this.

Message: That's because SCOTT used my truck as a guinea pig for his new 4X4 setup without me knowing. I am in-between e-mail addresses right now and don't have anything posted that I can copy -> paste, but I will get all that fixed once the new company deems me "worthy" of e-mail.
If you have a good mind's eye of the underside of your Dak, imagine the driver side manifold going to the new cat, down BEHIND the trans and under the drive shaft, then bending 90* to hit the X-pipe right in front of where the old 3rd Cat used to be. This is VERY close to the transmission crossmember and some creative bending needed to take place for it to fit. The Passenger side just goes straight down the old path to the X-pipe. the rest just parallels down the old path to 2 Spintech muffs, over the frame and out the side in front of the rear wheel.
IMHO, I should have spent the $$$ on a welder and some lessons, used the old pre-cats instead of buying new ones, and done it myself for half the cash.
p.s. Scott, if you are reading this, I want my refund that you promised me 7 WEEKS AGO.

Opie: Scott reads these posts. I am such a lamer, I made a site about the product. I used the refund check he sent me to make it. LOL, NOT :)

Message: rgathright: I know Scott reads these. I hoped he had read my letter, e-mails, faxes, and heard my voice messages, but it took posting on another public site to get the answer I wanted. I posted on the dakota-durango site so that he would realize that I am still not happy and am short $100.
I looked at your pics and noticed something... Why are your mufflers upside down? The hangers are on the underside. They also look like they were mounted pretty far forward of the stock location of the old muffler. Is this the difference in my '01 and your '04?
Are we still on for our little bet? Scott is sending certified mail w/the check.

Message: Opie,
I found this great shop in San Antonio, and had them cut out my third cat, bend an alumized pipe, and heliarc it in place for $30!
While I was there, we talked about doing what you said you should have. I.E., starting from just behind the precats, and dualing it out, along the pass. side, all the way back and out the side and exit where the stocker does. using 2 1/2 on each side should be good. These guys can mandrel bend the right way, and do it right, they even speak english to me! ;-)
I figure I can get a system custom made, for less than half the price.
I have a 2wd Quad cab , with the 4.7 manual.

Message: Then Todd, By God, DO IT.
Tell them to also put in a H-pipe 1/2 of the way down. An X-pipe is preferable, but expensive. The H-pipe can be quickly made and works to equalize pulses in almost the same way.
The check engine light came on for a while when the new cats were put on my truck, but it eventually turned off. It was throwing the O2 sensor failure code, but the computer was just learning the new system. You shouldn't have that problem if you keep your pre-cats and current O2 sensor position.
I really like the look of the exit in front of the right rear wheel. It just looks mean.
If you see my silver 4X4 Dak w/ a toolbox and the exhaust around H-town, honk a few times.

Message: Opie: SSSHH! A little secret about the '04 Dakotas... the underbody frame changed a lot. So it forced my muffler shop to turn the mufflers that came with the kit upside down to do the install.
Let the geniuses in Cali @ GS figure that one out for themselves.

Message: So do you guys think the gs system will fit a 03 4x4. If not why not? That extra cross brace for the torsion bars? How do i get around that problem?

Message: as far as the install and 4x4's, I forgot that the 4x's have torsion bars! My 2wd has coils up front.
Opie, I going to do it soon, new job, inlaws in town from over seas, etc.
Thanks for the advice about the H pipe, I had thought I would also do it that way. I'm still trying to decide what mufflers to use also.
What does the GS use? Their own, or?
Silver 4x4, with a tool box. Got it.
I'm in a QC, white over silver, with silver fender flares, the factory 16in mags, and a white color matched cab high shell on the bed. SLT, so chrome bumpers, etc.

Message: GS Uses a Spintech X-Pipe and Spintech muffs.
Scott at GS has kits for pretty much every year model, but I would GREATLY suggest the TexasTodd route to true duals.
Rgathright: Did you get your refund yet?
