Message: I have a 2000 R/T. Yesterday at the track I got a P0171 code. The code is for too lean a/f mix with over compensating fuel bieng added. My a/f gauge was bouncing only on the lean half. It was running like it had a huge cam, not wanting to idle, and it was smoking out the exhaust when I accelerated. I have a mopar computer, m1, 53 mm throttle body, headers, and exhaust cut out. I have run on the street with no problem, until I removed the cut-out. Could the problem be too much air going through? Need bigger injectors? Bad O2 sensor? I would appreciate any help.

Message: Look for the obvious first - vacuum leak, intake manifold gasket leaky.

Message: easy way, take one of those butane or propane torches, DONT light it, and keep a fire extinguisher handy,as a just in case, always CYA ( cover your A$$).... with the truck running, go around the intake with the torch opened up, any raises in RPM indicate a leak has been found. ( you could use starting fluid in a leaking spot, to have a more pronounced rpm jump, but start with a torch....no reason to coat the engine bay in highly flammable fluids....

Message: Thanks for the replies! Yesterday I replaced the gaskets on the intake manifold and was extra careful to be sure that it sealed well. I ran it and the problem haan't changed. I double checked all the ports on the manifold and throttle body and everything seemed fine. Any more help would be great!
