Subject: I installed my msd 6a IP: Logged
Message: I installed a MSD 6a ignition with the Blaster SS coil on my 2001 regular cab v6. Everything has been setup correctly. When the stock ignition is running on the truck everything is fine. When the msd igniton is running there is noise like a faint clack clack clack. It sounds like its coming from the clutch fan but im not sure. Once again when the stock ignition is plugged in there is no noise but when the msd is runing there is. Does anyone have an idea what could be going on? The truck runs great btw.

Message: What kind of sparkplug wires do you have on your truck? The MSD ignition puts out a much hotter spark (much higher voltage than stock), if your wires are original or stock they could be arcing. This arcing will sound like a tick-tick sound. The only way to really see the arcing is in the dark. Consider upgrading your spark plugs wires to say something like MSD super conductor 8.5 mm wires. There are others out there like Accel, but MSD are one of the best.
