Way to go Dodge your making great Trucks. Of course the warranty ran out by years in Feb 01. O'yeh it is supercharged but freeze plugs as a result, Don't think so. Anybody?

NO, I was going to change it at 25k but the plug gave way before I had the chance. SC had nothing to do with Freeze plugs or cooling system

I wouldn't call a supercharger abuse, but it does put more of a strain on the engine.

Kevin, freeze plugs can be a bitch. The location isn't that unusual. Most all V8s have plugs in the rear that are only accessible with transmission removal.

Yeh Jag I Have now learned that. I wish they (Manufactures) would put brass plugs in that location. Makes more sense anyway. Mine does now. lol

"Supercharger = abuse"??? If so why would manufactures put superchargers or turbo's on their cars and trucks?

blue92, to answer your question, so the dealer can
sell you another engine.

An engine from the factory is not meant for a
supercharger or other high power output mods. It
puts too much stress on everything, not just the
engine either.

Ever wonder why you see almost new cars and trucks
with all sorts high output stuff on the engines
in the used car lots? Three reasons. One, owner
lost job and can't make payments. Two, owner
didn't know it would use so much gas. Three,
engine using oil, knocking and tranny slipping.
Used car lot slugs did all sorts of quick fixes
and telling you it was driven by a little old
lady.

I feel your pain man. Bought my '97 used in November 99 with 53k miles on it. By the following december (year later), my freeze plugs were rusting out, turned my coolant rusty, and rusted out my water pump. Had to replace all 10 plugs, ended up costing me about $1,700 and 2 weeks at the stealership, they blamed it on weak coolant mix. Oh yeah, warranty covered the Water pump, $175 minus $50 deductable. My $1500 extended warranty has covered about, yeah, $125 in total repairs.

"Weak coolant mix?" Yep, very common among those the live in warmer climates. Many people think that the only reason for anti-freeze is to prevent their engines from freezing up in cold weather. Cheap anti-freeze or coolant may also have lousy or poor rust inhibitors.

Abuse =

The dealer's excuse for not fixing a vehicle that has been used anywhere near it's actual potential. If you don't drive like great grandma on valium, you're abusing it and they won't honor your warranty or repair defects. They must have been cause by your 'abuse'.
