I just recently changed from 3.55 gears with an open diff to 4.10 with a limited slip in my 2000 RC 4.7 Dakota and I thought i would post my results for everone else. The truck is at about 2400 RPM at 60 and between 75-80 it is at 3000 (closer to 80). I thought my gas milage was going to suck but after checking it I got an average of 17 MPG and thats driving half on the interstate between 75 and 80 and the other half on city not to mention i spent a night at the track and was driving the truck pretty hard in the city sense I hadn't had the gear long. I was VERY pleased with that. Also my 1/8 mile times went down from a 10.09 to a 9.67 (I have slips)with the gear change but some of that was due to the limited slip. Those times were on street tires on very heavy 18 inch Lexani's... slicks would help a lot because traction is still a major issue.

Sounds pretty good.
I have 3.92's, but with the MT ET Streets on my final ratio is 4.10s. My 1/8th mile is 9.451@73.58 with a 60' of 2.052. I also have the Dana Track Loc in a CC 4.7L 5 Speed.
Keep up the modifications, it only gets better.

How much did the slicks take off of you times? My best 60' was a 2.25. I think taking off my really heavy rims and putting on stock ones with slick could drop my times quite a bit.

I just wanted to add that there was a bone stock R/T RC of a friend of mine up there and the best time he could get was a 10.06 at 69.xx and there was also a club cab 5.2 1998 dakota there that ran 10.3 - 10.4 bone stock. Just something for comparison

Thanks for sharing. Those are the gears I want.

But.. what tranny you got? Manual? Auto?

If it's the AUTO 45-RFE and not updated your final OD ratio in your tranny would be .75 and with one like mine using the 5th gear at .67 I would run even lower RPM's in OD.

Its an automatic transmission so you should run a little lower RPM's because of the different overdrive and you are probably running taller tires than me (27") so that would help even more.

Got stock 245/70 whatever. But will be running taller ones later.

You can get that .67 final OD programmed into your tranny. From what I am told here anyway.
