Subject: 72mm on a 2004, 4.7L? IP: Logged
Message: Would I notice a difference on my Dakota if I replaced my stock throttle body (68mm) with one of the larger aftermarkets?
If so, please recommend a company/product that you found worked for you. Do not recommend a company, if you have not used their product. Thanks!
2004, 4.7L, 5spd Man, 2.5" True Dual and K&N 4" homebrew intake tube

Message: Thumbs up on the Fastmana tb's, the only complaint I have is maybe i shoulda gone a little bigger, pretty happy with the true 68 but really want a 70 or so, a 72 would likely be overkill, a true 70mm bore like fastman's should be plenty.

Message: this upgrade sounds great but will it do what my cold air intake did? make me lose 2000rpm and below power. 3000 and up seems better but how bout that throttle body, what will it do off the line??

Message: According to the Fastman himself, there is only a couple of HP difference between the 68mm and 70mm. The 68mm is the best for overall driving and low end torque.

Message: Have you considered a cam swap? The HO cams are great for low end and mid ranger power.

Message: Yes, I am well aware of the HO cam.
I want the KRC cam, but I am waiting for them to post more information on their website about their 4.7L Turbo/Supercharged Heads with the KRC 206 cam. I like the thought of 35+ CFM flow over the stock heads coupled with a 206... I think it will work with my stock computer, if it does not, I am in a world of hurt with my 2004.
The other problem is, I want them to install it so once I can figure out how to get my truck there and get me back I will be fine. Maybe a quick weekend trip to their shop and a plane ticket back.
Any opinion on that craziness? Please do not encourage me! :)
