Subject: Hey intensedak! IP: Logged
Message: I read in an old post that you installed the b&m star shifter. When shifting into fourth gear what do you do just put it into drive? Also was it hard and what kind of process was it installing the shifter (cutting the floorboard, etc.) Thanks in advance!

I dropped it a bunch however, I DO NOT recommend my drop method.
I cut exactly 1 1/2 coils off the front and have Bell Tech spring relocators front and back of the leafs in back, also with 2" blocks.
The front bottoms out very easily even with 3/4 of the bumpstops cut off and the rear hits from time to time.
Really needs drop springs up front with drop spindles and "C" notch in the back to make it somewhat right.
I just did it for fun not to drive much so it was ok.

Message: hey guys... sorry for being AWOL
besides my computer getting bit by the spyware bug, i went on vacation for the last 10 days.
I'll try to answer this as best as i can because i still dont have a working computer (at family member's house right now) and probably wont have one for awhile.
yes i do have the star shifter. It installs easily. Only need to drill a large hole in the floor board for the cable to run through. Then three smaller holes for mounting screws. For the shift lever on the tranny, i believe the kit comes with a new lever but since i got mine used from my brother, i just ground down the stud on my stock lever and drilled a hole through it so the shifter cable would connect to it.
When i had a fourth gear, i didnt use anything for it. Only way i shifted out of fourth was slowing down or giving it gas (throttle valve). You can mount a momentary switch on the dash for the overdrive.. which is what i was gonna do but i dont have a fourth gear anymore so i didnt bother.
good luck with it and i'll try to check back asap.
6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

Message: so can you only get into forth when you have it engaged in
detent? If you switch it to ratchet and put it through the gears:
1st, 2nd, then 3rd, isn't it just going to keep going through third
as you slam on the gas and redline? Or does the automatic shift
it to fourth by itself when engaged in third? I was thinking
maybe you had to bang through the first three gears and then
put it into drive for the auto tranny to pick up fourth the way you
said (slowing down or giving it gas) Thanks intensedak!
