Subject: What size throttle body IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking of getting a new throttle body for my 99 R/T and was debating on weather to get a 50mm or a 52mm. I have a K&N intake, exaust, pulleys, and all the little things that everybody does, and i will probably end up getting headers too. Any ideas?
Also how are the Sick throttle bodies, they sure a cheap, and a lot of guys port their own stock ones, and thats what this is. I seems like it shouldnt matter too much-its just air going through holes?
thanks.

Message: Look at thefastman.com, apsprecision, hughesengines.com and socaldakota.com. They all sell TBs, both ported stockers and new billet aluminum ones. There is also a guy from dodgetalk.com who just put his 4th ported tb on ebay. Starting bid was $125 I think.
General rule of thumb - 50mm for 318 engines. 52mm for 360. The 52 is best matched with an M1 intake, roller/rockers and a cam. A 52mm will probably be fine for your engine as is, and will only get better as you start modding it further.

Message: thanks Sneezer, what are the disadvantages
to having a TB that is too large. I just dont
want to suffer in performance or mpg untill i do
upgrade further.
