 Subject: Air intake idea??

I removed the snorkel from the airbox on my 99 5.2 and took the flap off next to the radiator to let in cooler air. I had an idea today about removing the filter from the box and putting a cone filter on the opening where I took the snorkel off of. So then I would be getting air flow through the cone, into the airbox and on to the intake.
Does this sound totally rediculous to anyone? Do you think it would work?

You need to get " outside " cool air
NOT underhood air.
Any way that you do this is better than letting underhood HOT air in to the intake......

It would be outside cool air, at least as outside as you can get without a functional ram air hood. It would be coming through the front where I removed the flap.
