hey everyone,
i was wondering if there's any companies out there that are putting out a programmer type mod for the 4.7L dakota. id like to pick one up for cheap on ebay if possible. has anyone used one of these? how were the power/mileage gains? thanks a lot!

This has been addressed on a few other threads, but here is the summary: No.
There are a few options out there to tune the computer. You could send your PCM to KenneBell, KRC, etc. to have it flashed for a few hundred bucks. When you do this, you may lose the use of your truck for a few days.
You could buy a JET chip for the truck, but there are nothing but bad reviews of those all over this (and other) boards.
The two big programmers out there, Superchips and Hypertech, were working on setups for the 4.7L when the HEMI came out. The R&D on the 4.7 got shelved so that DC's marketing baby could get MORE POWER.

The best thing you can do for now is pester the peeps at Hypertech and Superchips to get their soldiering irons in gear and work something up for the 4.7L. We have a good 500 people on this board who will jump at the chance of removing their speed limiters, changing the shift points, beefing up the timing, and bringing the engines to life without serious overhauling.

i think thats a great idea. everyone go to http://www.hypertech.com/contact.html and fill out a request form for the 4.7L dakota. maybe theyll start considering it if they get a bulk of interest. thanks everyone!
