hey, does anybody make a set of non adjustable roller rockers in a 1.7 ratio? i think a bolt on pair would be mych easier then doing an adjustment. any info would be cool.

Even non-adjustable rockers need to be checked carefully during install. It's easy to just bolt them down and go. But what if there's a manufactuing error? As you install them, be sure and check lash carefully.

unless you've installed the part we are talking about you should
keep your misinformation to yourself

i see so much advice on here from people who haven't even
done some of the modifications discussed on here and it's sad
when they guess or just repeat info others have said

put up or shut up

Maybe, but you should check them just to be safe. Better to be safe then to have a bent pushrod, or have something screw up and the pushrod fall in (yes, it can happen).

BTW, I, too, would go with the Crower 1.7's. What mods have you done so far? Just curious as there may be a mod that is more beneficial. Personally, I didn't see much gain from the 1.7 Rockers on my '97 5.2L.

Well, speaking as someone who has installed hundreds of rocker arms over the years, I can speak from experiance. Smart installers check fit and clearances when changing anything. Manufacturers and shippers sometimes make mistakes.

I don't consider that "misinformation", just good avice. If you choose to believe it is, and not to heed it, it's your truck, your money, and your time - do whatever you want.

so far my mods are...
-home brew intake (still deciding on the shaker hood or fipk, so this will do for now.)
-throttle body spacer
-msd 6a ignition mounted behind battery
-mopar performance 8mm wires
-pph headers
-3" dynomax ultraflo custom catback
-2 weeks the modified beer keg will be installed

I am mechanicly inclined.(I just cant spell!)I never installed a set of roller rockers before so i wanted to find out some info. I dont want to spend a bunch of money when i dont really need to. i understand the crowers and others are steel, but this isn't really a high rpm motor so i think the harland sharps are ok. has anyone had a problem with them on a stock motor? they just seem like a good deal with less hassle. thanks alot for the info guys!

Positive Performance Headers - They're built to the mopar specifications for performance on the Dakotas. I run a set as well, like them a lot!

Installing Rockers - Well, I can only speak in regards to the Crower. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but I definitely don't know a whole lot about engines, I understand the basic concepts, and that's about it :-) The Crower's are probably a little more difficult to install, but still not incrediably difficult. I have had to go in there and adjust them a few times, and from the time I pop the hood to the time I'm closing the hood is about 2 hours. Check www.dakota-trucks.net, and go to the FAQ section, they have installation instructions there on the Crowers. If you do everything correctly, it's not very difficult. Just make sure you have a good torque wrench available, and a set of allen's (again, this is for Crowers).
