Subject: Dumb PCM question IP: Logged
Message: I know that most OBDII and OBDI cars cannot use bigger injectors w/o a PCM upgrade (flash/reprogramming) Can the Dak w/ 5.2 (even swap to 5.9 PCM, if it helps) go from the stock 19lb/hr to 24lb/hr? I have a lot of mods and want to maximize performance, and I know that the 19's are keeping it a little lean.

Message: i think you just can swap injectors, i dont know for sure as i have never done this. i would think that the computer would learn of the change and compensate for the difference. try resetting the pcm too after you swap. or just wait until somebody replies that really has experience with this

Message: Should not be a problem..
If engine can handle more fuel - it will be
delivered .
Only thing is the PCM will sense the mixture
air/fuel and set accordingly.

Message: Are you running stock injectors now? If so a Bosch set at the same flow rate will help smooth out the engine and help in performance. Factory injectors are within 15% flow of each other, the Bosch's are within 5% maybe less. I got a set for $187 at fiveomotorsports.com Good, easy mod.

Message: Get an air fuel ratio meter from Pep boys or any HP parts supplier so you can stop guessing if your injectors are leaning it out or not.
Any MPI Dodge beit OBD1 or 2 can handle and in some cases benifit from higher LB injectors. All depends on the engine actually needing more fuel or not.

Message: I have fiveOmotorsports 19lb/hr series 2? type injectors. Or something like that. I know that they are not stock, but they were put on over 2 yrs ago with a set of early mods I installed.
Another reason I ask is that I was searching around an FI website and did their calculation on how big of an FI I should use. It came in right at 24#'s. Thats estimating 300hp (crank) after the M-1, TB, full exhaust (headers too), 1.7rr's FIPK, & e-fan (not that I gain from that). Now, considering I have a 5.2, is that a realistic hp number, or should 275 be a little more like it. B/C I know that not every part adds 30, 10, 40, etc. to the previous gain from another mod, but after a while they do start working better together.
I was at a dyno the other day with a friend, but he and his f-body buddies ate all the dyno time up with tuning. Hopefully I'll get it in another time. And, I'll try the A/F ratio meter, but if I do, should I get a wideband one for more accuracy?
Thanks for the help.
