 Subject: Confused? Which Dynomax Super Turbo

I definitely want to get a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. I have called Summit, Jeg's, and Dynomax and they all reccomend part #17698. From checking the Dynomax website, this is a 3 inch in/out and the our Dak is a 2.5 inch in/out. Are they on drugs when I call?? I have read where others from this website recommend #17733 which is 2.5 inch in/out. I crawled under the truck and measured the stock muffler (oval) at 26X11.5X9 and it appears to be an offset in and out. What do you all reccomend and what have you all used?? I am on a budget that is why I chose the Dynomax Super turbo. My plan is to pick up the muffler at the Summit outlet in Reno, NV and have a muffler shop install it. Please help me spend my pay raise.

The 17698 flows 532 cfm, 8" round, $67, heavy duty
constuction, 18" long, 3" inlet/outlet/internal
tubes. The shop can fabricate reducers.
The 17733 is 4.25x9.75x14, flows 410 cfm, and is
$32, 2.5 in/out. Probably the loudest (14" long).
The 17748 is 4.25x9.75x20", flows 415 cfm, $40,
2.5" in/out.
The 17769 is 5.5x11x20", flows 551 cfm, 3" in
/out/internal, $66.
Bottom line: 17698 or 17769, both flow more, and
prob quieter.

I called Jeg's and asked about pricing on the DynoMax SuperTurbo Cat-Back Kit. They want $368 for the 2000 kit. They want $200 for the 1999 kit. won't the 1999 kit be the exact same as far as hanger locations and tail-pipe configurations? The only difference seems to be this new 8" round welded Super Turbo that jsut came out (the same part no. you mentioned above). I am very interested in saving $168!!
Does anyone know if the 1999 system will work on my 2000 4.7L CC Dak Sport?

THanks for the help. Anyone have a Dynomax Super Turbo #17733 and how loud is it? And, did u notice a change in mpg? And, anybody else change to the above mentioned mufflers and do you have any comments about loudness and mpg?

Flowratings don't mean a whole lot for mufflers (that's marketing for you). Exhaust gasses work on pulses...not a smooth stream (like on a flowbench where they test the mufflers).

I installed the 17748 about 3 months ago. It's not too loud, in fact, it gives the truck a nice sound. I also noticed about a 1 mpg improvement.
