What is your current muffler? If it's stock you may like the extra rumble.

Message: if u have no cats get a flowmaster. the dynomax just doesnt cover up enough of the crappy sounds that are a part of any engine.

Message: i dont know if this wil help, since i have the 4.7L but....
imho, i think its WAY too quiet (again my personal preference) i love the deep sound it makes, if it were only the same tone but louder!! i think i'm going to try a spintech muffler, as long as it will sound "close" to the GS motorsports dual exhaust (i think thats what mufflers are used in that system...) i love that in your face window rattling sound!!
just my .02

Message: This question is for anyone that has already installed the 17748.
If you installed it on a 1999 3.9 that is totally stock, would you see Any improvement in performance???
I'm going to do 1.7 RR and a TB, but have not had time. I've had this truck for a few months and it really is slow...:) I'm just curious how bad the stock muffler chokes it down. Plus a better sound would be nice.
Thanks for any replies.

Message: I have the same installed on my 3.9l and it has a good low tone especially at take off and idle. there is a mid acceration range when it sounds like the stock muffler, then if you hit it hard it sounds pretty good again. I like it but it could be used just a little more rumble. But you are not going to get a v6 to sound like a v8 too often anyway. Did notice some performance improvement.

Message: I have a 2000 V6 Ext. Cab and replaced the stock muffler with the Dynomax 17748. So far I am very happy with the Dynomax. It has a nice rumble to it and sounds so much better than stock, but doesn't blow me out of the cab. With the Dynomax and a cold air intake I'm getting an extra 1.5 to 2 mpg extra. In the next couple of weeks I'll be adding a 180 degree t-stat and a modified v6 throttle body in hopes of getting even better gas mileage.

Message: Got the 17748 Dynomax Super Turbo installed today on my 2000 Quad cab V6.
My review of ridin around with it for about 30 miles:
Idle-Sooooo much better than stock. Imitates a V8 verrry well. Very pleased with the sound.
Low RPM's-Freakin sweet. Sounds liek a crazy V6.
Mid-Low RPM's- starts to get annoying
High-Mid RPM's- small drone, but a lot more power
High RPM's-not much different than stock. Not much noticeable increase in power either.
Accelerating at 5-15 mph- Nice low drone, but gets annoying if you have to stay at that speed. You can hear it very well too.
Accelerating 15-30- fades off a little here, and prob sounds the best in my opinion.
Accelerating up to 55- Nice low drone, but gets annoying after a while at some constant speeds, so you have to find a sweet spot (frequency of the airwaves i guess).
Final conclusion- awesome muffler at idle, and low rpm's. Not as quiet as I thought it would be, but not near as loud as others. Very exciting to pull up to a ricer.
Funny thing is my dad still doesnt know i installed it, LOL. I have the stock muffler and Dynomax box in the truck bed, so it gives him a clue of wahts up. Man im gonna get so grounded, lol. Oh well, i love the muffler. So much better than stock. I definitely reccomend it.
