Subject: Which Flowmaster? IP: Logged
Message: OK guys, I want a Flowmaster muffler but i cant decide on which one I want. I was thinking about the New Super 40 series muffler, or one of the older models. Any Thoughts?
I have 2001 R/T
Thanks

Message: Mine's a 4.7, though you wouldn't know it with the 40 series on there ( I guess an old one - had it for about 3yr.s now.) Have it dumped straight down before the axle - rumbles to say the least!

Message: Stumpy,
Go with the 40 - Ive had mine on for about 6 months now (4.7 Dak). Sweet low rumble at idle, awesome power and sound when you punch it. Cant beat the 40 - Other guys I know tried the 50 series because the were worried about the 40 being to loud but with thiers you might as well not even have upgraded. The 40 "burble" is unbelievable when down shifting or rolling off the gas...Classic, destinct sound. For my money I wouldnt have gotten anything else.

Message: Yea I have to agree. 40 is the way to go. I just got mine a few weeks ago. Single in/dual 2.5" pipes out. I love the sound it makes on my 4.7L. Sounds freaking fantastic when you're accelerating. Nice deep rumble that really brings that V-8 to life.

Message: I had a cat back dual system and the tail pipes rusted so last weekend I got out the Sawzall and hacked it off right after the Delta 40. Wow what a difference not having those pipes makes. If you want rumble, dump it. It shakes the windows on my house now.

Message: No Flowmaster. Get a Dynomax. I promise Flowmaster is not the only company that makes mufflers out there.

Message: I hsve a 2004 and intitially went with a 40 series. Its was way to loud. So I went on line bought a flowmaster 50 series with delta flow technology and it sounds great, still rumbles and when you are on the freeway you can still carry on a conversation in the cab.

Message: I had a 3" original 40 series single exhaust, no cat, cut off just behind the rear axle. It was pretty loud but sounded great!! If you don't want the noise go with a 50 series. If you want to chop the cat you'll need an 02 sensor simulator.

Message: I don't find my 40 to be loud at all. If I'm running low in a gear or accelerating, it rumbles nicely. When I get cruising down the highway, I don't even hear it.

Message: Stumpy, It all comes down to what you want.
I didnt want a truck that was annoying loud all the time. I went with the 40 delta, as Im sure Germ has as well. People definitely hear you rumbling around but the flowmasters are made in such a way that when you are cruising the sound is not overbearing.
Check out this link:

But if you want to be noticed a little touch of the gas makes the muffler growl. A definite head turner.
My truck gets compliments every time anybody who knows a thing or two about a V8 hears her breath.
No disrespect 'another mark', there are other mufflers on the market but for money theres only one.

Message: I can't believe all of you Flowmaster nut-swingers, have you heard or tried another type of exhaust on your truck? Coming from someone who had a Flowmaster set up on his Dakota and then switched to MBRP, do yourself a favor and go with something other than Flowmaster. I suggest MBRP and Magnaflow. Hell even the Dynomax sounds better and outperforms the Flowbastard.

Message: Um...what?
I dont understand the last posting. My flowmaster was bought locally, installed with custom bent pipes from the cat back and chrome tips for $250? Is that expensive? I think not. You get ripped off if you try to order any muffler "systems" through one of those 'aftermarket' catalogs.
And did that guy just sign off as "Putz"
I dont even want to touch his whole sheep affection.
