Subject: bigger throttle body?? IP: Logged
Message: Hi I have an 99 R/T with the following mods
KN cold air intake
50mm flowmetrics
M1 intake manifold
B&G flash
electric fan
1.7 roller rockers
PPH headers
removed cat and installed flowmaster Y pipe
autolite 3923
relocated IAT
does anybody know if I would see any gains by going to a 52mm throttle body???
I got spanked last saturday night by a silverado diesel truck with some kind of Diablo tuner .

Message: I'd say your next mod should probably be a cam. You probably wouldn't see much more difference from a 2mm larger TB.

Message: krcperformance.com should have a mild cam that can be used with 1.7rrs. give them a holler.
as far as the tb, upgrading 2 mms when you already have a flowmetrics 50mm and an m1, you most likely wont notice any gains. give the cam a look, maybe put in some taller gears too if you're after better 1/4 mile times.

Message: Did you try krcperformance? I'm sure they have one. From everything i've read the cam is usually what really wakes up an r/t. There are also pulleys available for your truck from aspracing. The msd ignition for your truck is supposed to be good for an instant 11rwhp .

Message: the 4.7 a 68mm is the best as I have just tried one from FastMan even tho the new generation believes bigger is better it still holds to be untrue,as was in in the Carb. days.
I run a KB blower and the 68mm runs fine with no change that I can feel from the 65mm the clean up is all that is needed. add a 72mm and you will loose instead of gain.
