no no no no... you dont need to raise the idle. I am starting to think that you are not using the torque converter for what it was meant for. I think that you are not launching properly to take in the full effect of the converter.

please tell me how you were launching your vehicle at the tree when you ran that 1/4, give every detail possible.

one foot on the brake the other on the gas, motor reved a little, trans in low, light green run the tach to about 5000rpm shift to second and so on. Ok my question to you is if I drop the idle to 800 rpm she a really ruff idle, the truck shakes and all, when I give her gas she sometimes backfires through the throttlebody, now marty says that is a sign that the injector are not synced but I have had them checked twice and they are fine. Now what do you think? Should I drop the idle and move the throttle postion voltage to .80 or what? I tell you just be able to talk to someone who know what they are talking about is such big relief. I have been troubleshooting for so long now since feburary. I know I may come across rude but I spent the money for a bad ass v6 and I have not seen it yet. It sucks when I feel someone is putting me down, So thanks for any help you give me.

Hey BADENOF, it sounds like your launching at the tree way too low of an RPM for that converter. If you've got it set at 2600, you should be reving JUST below that. Otherwise your going to have a delay in reaction time waiting for the converter to "kick-in". This will have nothing to do with idle adjustment, which you should leave where it's at.

Also, I have no doubt that your V6 will scream at high RPMs, but they just don't have the torque in the low end to getcha going. Nitrous will help alot for faster times, but you'll still be waiting for the engine to torque up I think. A roots style supercharger would fix that easily. Not sure who makes one for the V6, but I think that would cure your craving. Although they're pricey, but it looks like you've invested everything else so why not! :)

nitrous will provide a lot more torque than the s/c... and nitrous is instant. While a 100 shot of nitrous will add about 100 hp.. most cases it will add about 200 tq to a v8 and a little less to a V6. When i had mine dynoed, they messed up and the numbers were low, but i still gained 115 tq with a 75 shot of nitrous. Thats one thing some people dont know about nitrous... Torque in a Bottle.

Hey
So I'm not sure if I should raise my throttle or not and what about my TPS where should I have that, right now I'm idling at 900rpm with the TPS at .8 volts. Should I keep this set up or try something different? Also here is a link if you want to see my truck. Tell what you think.

What does the bottom end of you motor consist of? Stock pistons/rods? Stock compression? That is a pretty large cam for a mpi small displacement engine. Bumping the compression to the 10:1 mark would help out alot if you are still at the stock 9:1. That takes decking the block or heads though. With a heavy club cab with an auto you are going to need more convertor with ti. What is the stall speed on your current convertor?

The nitrous express kit is the only way to go. they have the safest/most powerfull jettings and a simple install.

I'm sure marty will mimic those thoughts if you decide to buy the nx kit through krc.

Stock crank, but balanced, new pistons .030 over, but 9:1 I didn't have enough clearance to go with a higher compression because of the lift of the cam. Marty is the one who help me put this motor together. The mopar stall converter from what i understand is 500-800 over stock, but it has flashed at 2600 in Marty shop.

Ah, You should of been fine with some flat tops with big valve releifs. getting the comp up around the 10:1 mark would of made a huge difference. With stock compression and that stall your heavy truck is going to be a dog off the line. I'd look into a higher stall convertor if you are dead set on keeping that cam. If not, a smaller cam may make you alot happier

I have been saying the cam is too big since the first days I got the motor running, and I told the builder I wanted 10:1 But he told me there wasn't enough clearance. That why I want the nitrous to get me out of the hole.

You must not have the proper pistons then. Setting a flat top to 0 deck height, even with sizeable valve releifs will get you over the 10:1 mark. Without a bigger stall, more comp or a lighter truck you are going to want to change to a smaller cam to get back off the line performance

Well I was thinking if I raise the idle it would help launch me of the line better. I tought a stall converter was used when you have a big cam in auto transmission so you can raise the idle and the trans won't kick in till it hits the stall point.

Unless the cam wont idle at the factory set rpm do not mess with it. It will self correct back to the factory settings anyways unles you disable the IAC. to stall the convertor up you use your left foot, lol. It has nothing to do with the idle speed of the engine.
