Message: Viper torque converters are very popular and are available from KRC Performance, they also have some 1/4 mile times for trucks running vipers.

Message: mopar converters look to be way cheaper, like $300 or something and vipers are $800, what's the big difference? anyone using either of these if so, what stall speed?

Message: Difference is the torque multiplication numbers a vipers is 2.5 and the mopar converter is only 2.0, exactly how much of a performance gain that is I don't know but it must be a good thing.

Message: basically u just need to decide if the .5 multiplication factor is worth the extra $$$ or not? hopefully someone will post that has used both tq's because i think it's like $300 for the mopar and $800 for the viper

Message: krc says if your racing go precision and if your towing go mopar. who knows if the precision is worth all the extra cash?

Message: I'm currently running the TCI street fighter converter in my truck. Stalls out around 3200. I've never used the Precision but I've never heard a bad story on them other than the price. The TCI was 450 from Summit racing which was not cheap but a lot less than the Precision. I've had good luck with the TCI so far. Each combination is different but on my truck the converter swap gained me .9 in the 1/8th mile. With stall speeds this high slicks are needed to see all of the gain, other wise you'll get a lot of tire spin. As far as drivablity goes I don't drive my truck daily but it does seem to run a little hotter even with a large trans cooler. I would say on a daily driver it's best to stay in the 2500 and under stall speed, but again depending on mods you may need to adjust that speed. I'd give KRC Performance a call and talk to someone that can point you in the right direction for your truck.
