Subject: 2004 QC 4.7L Intake/IAT Question IP: Logged
Message: I am going to be adding an Intake to my new truck in the next few days but I had a few questions. If I am correct, the IAT sensor on my model is actually attached to the factory Air Hat??? If this is the case I will have no choice but to relocate it to a new intake tube???
(1)To do this, is there a way I can mount this to a tube where it will be easy to remove/install incase I have to take my truck to a dealer?
(2) As far as making a homebrew intake, my BIGGEST CONCERN is MPG. How much should I expect to gain during normal city driving? Will having a relocated IAT have an effect on this?

Message: I am also waiting for an answer on this question. I have an 04 CC 4x4. I think you can drill a hole in the abs pipe and glue the sensor in.

Message: I dunno about the 04's but my IAT was located in the intake... see
http://www.intense-dakota.com/tips_and_tricks.htm
discussion of relocation of the IAT is there... don't worry too much about the dealership... they probably won't even care, especially if you "befriend" one of the service advisors... you might even ask them where your IAT is at...far as I know, they didn't move it.. but I haven't had the chance to be under the hood of one yet..

Message: SMP, you get varying results from the air intake as far as MPG is concerned. Some have reported results of 1-2 mpg, others, like myself, saw no measureable difference. By the way, I had a Volant intake.
