Message: I have a 1994 Dakota, 3.9. It's a pretty beat up truck, but will still smoke 'em up pretty good. Anyways, I am getting ready to go to boot camp and while I'm away my mother is going to beef up my truck with the money I'll be making. I would like to put a 5.2 or 5.9 in it but I'm not sure what all it would involve. I need to talk with someone who knows all about this stuff. Do I need another tranny, upgrade the brakes, etc. I NEED ADVICE!!! Feel free to e-mail me or instant message me on Yahoo. TLB_USMC@YAHOO.COM
Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!

Message: I know you'll at Least have to swap out your tranny..... I haven't done this swap, but the v-8'll chew up and spit out a 6 tranny. other things to consider would be brakes, suspension, wiring, computers....Hell, after all is said and done, you may be better to just let her sit, until you get ALL the money together, and trade'er in for an R/T. just a thought... MOdifying that far can lead to MANY problems... I just went through a 'similar' transition with a 1965 Mustang, trading out an I-6 to v8, I had to swap wiring, the entire suspension, drive line (tranny axle, and driveshaft) brakes, and MANY smaller problems that I ran into....and that was on a FORTY year old car, without computer engine management....
save up, get yer self an R/T, it's gonna save you alot of headaches, and money...

Message: I'll second that. Dude you gotta be able to find a 94 Dakota in good shape or great with a V8 in it somewhere for a fair price. It wouldn't even be too much if you had to drive out of state to get the sucker. As someone who has owned a couple 6ers I feel your pain wanting that 8. Swapping an engine and other items like this while not necessarily difficult, is time intensive and expensive. Even if you were able to do it all and get it all working right you wind up with a pick up truck that you just sunk another $5-6k into.
