Message: Okay, all you guys who wrench on your Dakota's, I have a few questions. I know this is a Dakota board, but since I'll be pulling a tranny from an '88-'92 Dakota, I'm REALLY hoping someone can help me out.
I'm building up a '70 Challenger. Doing some later model upgrades on it, like dropping in an A-518 automatic tranny. I plan on using a 340 cubic inch motor, which is internally balanced like the 318 (5.2). The 360s are externally balanced.
Are the newer Magnum 5.2 and 5.7 motors balanced similarly, as in the 5.2 internally balanced and the 5.7 externally? This would specifically affect the way the torque convertor is balanced. (example: If you put a old 5.7 tranny/torque convertor behind a 5.2 or vice-versa, you would get a nasty shaking engine)
Also, are the 5.2 and 5.7 torque convertors interchangable, if I purchased a 5.7 tranny, could I put in a 5.2 convertor without complications?
Please excuse me if I'm totally confused.

Message: On ' same series ' tranny the torque conv
is interchangeable..
If you get that A-518 , just be sure to get
proper conv. for it..

Message: I know an A518 will need an 518 convertor, I wanted to know if the 5.2 and the 5.7 are balanced differently?
