Have any of you guys wrapped your fuel rails with heat tape? My fuel rails get super hot when the motor gets warm.

Where did you buy your heat tape (Pep Boy's, Home Depot)?

First, please specify engine type.

Here is a picture I found of a insulation job some did...

YES! Go for it! I recommend first putting a heat sensor on the thing and monitoring your min and max temps during a trip. Then read your temps after putting the insulation on. This will give you a temperature goal to reach.

I am working currently on a system as well for my 4.7L so far I have gained a 10 degree F savings and the system is removable. I really want a cooling system that is coil based with a pump and resivoir in my truck bed.

Its a 99 5.2 5 speed, with cat back Flomaster, K&N intake, relocated IAT. I am putting a 180 T-stat and replacing the clutch fan with a Black Magic electric this weekend. I am getting a 50mm TB in a couple weeks and wondered while I have it apart, if I should heat wrap the fuel rails as hot fuel is undense fuel.

I deffinatly notice when the engine gets hot mid-range and top end die way off.

Hmm... I bet just the black magic and 180 thermo combo will help that top end problem out. I would wait and see the results of that first.

Put thermo-tec heat shield on mine (5.9). A lot cutting involved. The brakets are still really hot though. Not sure what I can do about that if they are conducting the heat from the manifold.

This comes in sheets (get the adhesive backed) so you have to cut all your sections (e.g. to go around the brakets, injectors, etc). I got mine from http://www.driverfx.com!

I've been using the DEI heat reflecting tape for about 4 years. It does a good job at the track. I used their 2" by 25' (been too long to be absolutely sure of length) but used about 2 rolls. Downside is that the tape is quite expensive up here.
