Subject: Auto Tranny Swap IP: Logged
Message: Any ideas on a good strong auto tranny that wouldn't be too much work to replace the ?46re? I think thats the tranny in the RT. I figure this transmission is going to go eventually and I'd like to prepare for it's replacement rather than trying to fix it.

Message: 46RH is the pre-electronic version of the 46RE and all you need is a toggle switch to power the overdrive and lockup. Direct swap as far as mounting points go. Going to a PCM for manual tranny would simplify things as well.

Message: I just want to know if it's going to be any stronger or more reliable than the 46RE, I think the 36RH is a pretty good tranny. I think though if I was going to go with the 36RH I would try to find a nice 440.
