Subject: Intake Manifold Q IP: Logged
Message: Hey short question here... I was just wondering what are the symptomes if your engine (1999 3.9 liter) has a leaking intake manifold? what would it do/sound like? thanks

Message: When my plenum gasket went South, I would loose a lot of power when pulling a hill. Hills you used to fly up now caused numerous down shifts as RPM's dropped. There was no sound difference that I could tell. Good luck.

Message: If you go to change that gasket you may want to consider using
the Hughes Engineering kit for $70.

Message: when your intake gasket goes bad you will notice rpm rise and fall. oil consumption will rise possibly will hear pinging . take a can of carb cleaner and spray up and down the intake where the gasket is if you hear the rpm change thats where the gasket is leaking (unless you have a vacuum hose off in that area. good luck
