Subject: Head studs for R/T Heads IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know which ARP studs to use with the R/T heads. I was told to use the A engine studs for W2 heads but they dont seem to be right. There were 3 different lengths I believe there should only be two.

Message: I know sombody will chime in here and set me strait, but, I have been running the W2 studs for 2 1/2 years without a problem even at 11:1 CR with 6# boost. Just pay attaintion on the thread depths. I think there is a kit just for the magnums to be on the safe side.
2000 CC R/T 52mm TB, M1, 2.02 R/T heads (polished chambers), headers 3.5" exhaust, flowmaster 40 single, MP PCM, removed engine driven fan(It's back on now Damnit), MSD ign-BTM, Taylor "409" plug wires with boots, Keith Black pistons, 5140 rods, ARP head studs, Hotchkis suspension 2/3 drop, Transgo shift kit, lot's of little stuff! More to come!

Message: EyeTrip,
On the Medium length studs did you not fully seat them into the block, because when I fully seated these they only have about 2 threads protuding past the head. I am concerned if I dont fully seat these into the block I will have trouble with the boost (just a concern).

Message: They do not go all the way down. The way I did it is run the nut down until one thread from flush and then threaded it into the block. I have checked the number of threads that are in the block and they are only backed out by 3 to 4 turns from bottom. When installing studs you never run them down to the bottom tight anyways for expansion purposes. You could crack the block.
Like I said, I think there is a kit just for the magnum motor but it is possible to run the W2 studs without problems.
Just my own experience..... My last motor detonated so hard it damn near stopped the engine @3000RPM with the S/C. (Caused buy oil from a blown pan gasket... M1 fixed that) Studs held just fine.
I hope this helps

Message: Just to let everyone know I have found the correct studs to use with the R/T Heads, they are the ARP small block A eng w/ W5 heads. These are exact matches.
Thanks Anyways
