I'm a new poster, though I I've been lurking in the forums for a while now. This is sooo great compared to three years ago when all I could find online for DAKs was the DML and MAGNUMPERFORMANCE (UGH!)
I'm rebuilding my 93 5.2 and I've got a set of crower's 1.7:1 rollers but I didn't get the rev kit with them and after reading about trouble others have experienced with things getting out of alignment I'd like to go ahead and use guideplates. At this time I don't plan on hi-revving the engine but I'd just be more comfortable with a little insurance.Problem is crower wants WAY TOO MUCH for their stuff! I paid something like $400 for thr rockers and don't feel like shelling out $200 more for the rods and plates! I found guideplates at JEG'S for around $30 but I can't locate hardened rods in 5/16" X 6.950" (crower's upgraded rods are 0.050" longer than the stock 6.9")

Been there and done that. Bite the bullet and buy the stuff from Crower. Very high quality, but boy are they independent. You could have gotten a kit price at truckperformance.com. They will get you the guideplates and pushrods also.

It was starting to look like nobody knew or cared about this but for anyone interested, competition cams has guide plates and chromolly rods(6.900")for Magnum engines. The pushrods are listed as a ford application but I talked to comp and these are identical to mopar originals (Crower's are 0.050" longer but for my purposes it's probably close enough). Here's the P/Ns and prices from SUMMIT:
CCA-7631-16 PUSHRODS $93.39
CCA-4842-8 GUIDPLATES $23.39
This is almost a $85 savings over the Crower parts but they're not a proven or tested combination. I'm calling to see about availability tomorrow and I'll decide then what I'm going to do, comp or crower.
