Message: Anywhere from 0-17 I've read. Hot Rod magazine did a test on like a 2000 R/T and got a dyno proven 17HP gain from just the fan. I haven't noticed that much in my swap but the engine spools up faster.

Message: Okay whats up with this? My 2001 Dak 3.9L 5spd RegCab, came from the factory with 2 engine fans one electric and one mounted to the water pump. I know these engines need lots of airflow but two fans? I don't even have A/C.
And how would that work if I switched to an electric Fan? even though it already has one.

Message: BillehBob,
Just get rid of the belt driven clutch and fan, you already have a nice, bif electric one that works fine. You don't need two, or any mods, etc.
I, and many others are running cool, that way.
Do a search on it, you'll find more than enuf info

Message: I would do a little more research on that 3.9 with the two fans before you go yanking off your mechanical fan thinking that the electric one can do the cooling job all on its own. I believe puller fans (mechanical in your case) are way more efficient than your pusher fan (electric in your case). Adding a second electric puller fan may be a better bet. How much smaller is your electric fan than the mechanical?

Message: Having an electric instead of the mechanical might also extend
the life of your water pump since it doesn't have all that weight
on the pulley now.

Message: My 2001 Dak sport has 2 fans also a Manual with a fluid clutch and a 14" Electric. the Electric is controled bu the PCM and comes on when the truck is too hot. for added cooling.
For tho`s looking for a 180* for the 4.7 try here they make them for Keene Bell for there kit. MotoRad the PN is 244-180 I feel a 160* is too cold and will cause problems of not alowing the system to go into open and closed loop
