Subject: ultra reduced backpressure, still quiet? IP: Logged
Message: hey, i just bought a used 94 v6 dakota with ~118. i work at an apartment complex, and i need serious gas miliage, yet quietness. i'm totally capible of doing anything myself, but i've never owned a v6, so, what would this sound like:
no cats
2 1/2 the whole way
2 straight in/out 31" glasspacks for each side
and would it be crazy to fit the mufflers so they would do like a long strechy "S"? (if you know what i'm saying
would it sound pretty low and mellow, yet i'd still manage keeping the backpressure pretty low?
never really heard of a dual exhaust with 4 glasspacks on a V6, but i'm sure it'd keep the sound very low and still be freeflowing which both must be met, just i got a poopload laying around and i'd rather use them then have them just chill and do nothing :P

Message: Glasspacks sound bad and are restrictive. Go with a Walker Dynomax or Flowmaster muffler. I wouldn't waste the time or money putting four mufflers on anything. Dual exhaust with either of the above would be a better choice.

Message: kj - glass packs aren't restrictive at all.
I don't think you'd see enough muffling by doubling them up.

Message: I don't personally recommend any exhaust product. I like the Dynomax Super Turbo myself and a ton of people on this site seem happy with their Flowmasters so go bitch to the masses.
