Subject: Any Truth To This? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, i was searchin for info on the 528 hemi dak from Sport Truck when i came across a set of posts about the 6.1 hemi, a guy on this site says he has a friend that works in a DC Mich test facility where they are testing it in a "car". This guy claims ratings of 440bhp and 448fpt and also says that the engine will come out in a truck this summer. There is also mention of a Hemi V10 that will be put in the next gen Viper & SRT-10 Ram.
I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything about the 6.1 engine being produced, because i have seen the picture of the 6.1 before on thehemi.com. The only thing i have found to discredit the claims from this guy are that he says that the 6.1 is a true hemi, which could never fly because a real hemi could never make emissions, besides many experts agree that the semi hemi is a better design because it works great for both naturally aspirated and s/c or t/c engines: (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0403phr_hemi/)
Anyways, i was wondering what yall thought and the web address for this post is:

Message: Gas going close to two bux a gallon in the NE,
I can't see Chrysler selling too many of those
juice hogs.
I already parked my 02 Dak 4x4 4.7 untill this
fall. Driving my gas sipper 79 AMC. I'm not
about to give those oil sob's all my hard earned
money.
Talk about putting this country into a recession!
The oil sob's are doing a real good job of it.
Thanks, Mr Bush! (another oil family)

Message: LOL another fool crying about Bush and the oil. Since they (Texas Barons) only own about 1% of all oil in the world and Iraq only imports about 10% to the US, i guess Bush is sob.

Message: I guess you've never heard the term "deep pockets" while Bush's interest in domestic oil is clear as day. There is no doubt that he makes money from many endeavors including foreign oil.

Message: RadioMan, haven't driven my Dak since Oct.28/03. (but only because of winter, and I've had the exhaust mans. off for a few weeks now, back on tomorrow)
Gas is pricey, it was so when I bought the truck.
I say suck it up, use it while we can. I fully intend to use my share and then some.

Message: did you buy a truck thinking you would get good mileage? i didn't. Gas is expensive, deal with it you get used to paying for it after a while. it is a necessity. if you want to use very little of it buy a hybrid civic, and go 500 miles on a tank full, at the expense of no payload, and 20 minute 1/4 mile times.

Message: From what I've read, the 6.1 Hemi will probably be replacing the V10 altogether. No V10 Hemi. There's a lot of speculation in there. No telling.

Message: You have to put gas prices in perspective.
Take the price of gas in 1981~$1.32/gal and that same gallon of gas today would cost over $2.75 when you add inflation. Back in 1957 gas cost $.25/gal. Paying 25 cents back in 1957 was equivalent to paying $1.85 today. So, in all reality, we are paying about the same price for gas as we always have.
