Subject: Timing Advance from KRC IP: Logged
Message: Ok I was at KRCs site and read the article on timing advance. My question is this. Will the advance give me any improvments. My truck is a 98 5.2. I have done some other minor mods. Thamks!!!!

Message: Yes in most cases you will see a fuel mileage increase along with a few other things such as more power and a little better throttle response... You can adjust your crank sensor by removing 3/8" in the grooves as advised, but to really top it off you need to relocate the iat sensor, mod the tps, and advance your distributor +3 degrees as well... This will really wake up the engine... Only draw back is if you have spark knocking problems, then you might as well forget it, because it will make things worse... In this case you can retard your timing a little by moving the sensor up away from the oil filter and maybe you'll elliminate it only you'll lose what fuel mileage and everything else you might have right now... You can get all the info for everything listed above from krc as well as a few other web sites...
