Subject: Exhaust Qs?

Message:
I am thinking of getting a complete exhaust system for my truck. I was thinking of getting KRC headers, going through dual 3" pipes with no cats, a X-pipe, and dual 3" mufflers with 3.5" chrome tips. What mufflers will flow the most? How much will the truck benefit from this modification?

with all that, you will probably loose a lot of torque. are you installing a blower and/or doing internal work to the engine? you have to keep some back pressure you know.

Exactly, I have to keep backpressure, which is why I am running mufflers. I like the 3" pipes because of the deepness they give over 2.5". I don't think I will lose much low end torque, I am gonna be doing a lot of intake mods and getting new heads and cam soon.

ok a single 3" is recomended with a cat, so if you install dual 3" that would be equivelent to running a single 6". also with no cat, not only is it illeagle, but it will rob you of a huge amount of torque. if you install a straight through muffler (gibson, borla, dynomax ect) its just like having no muffler at all. they just use fiberglass the cut down on the noise. and headers on top of that. damn, why not just unbolt the exhaust manifold from the head and drive like that, with no exhaust at all. even with a supercharger i dont think it will work good. also good luck running the 3" pipe around the gas tank

You will be better off with a single 3" exhaust. That will give the best flow characteristics and overall performance.
