Subject: Do TB spacers work? IP: Logged
Message: On my 99' 5.2 Dak, how well do the TB spacers work, the ones that have the spiral cut in them? What can i expect with my mods, 3" home brew cold air, Gibson cat back, and i just bored my factory TB myself yesterday? I have noticed more hp from these mods already.

Message: Save your money! They do not work on our engines we get our
fuel below not via the TB. They have been dyno proven not to
work.

Message: They give themselves away in their own ads. The spacers are designed to increase atomization of fuel. By their very design, MPI engines cannot make use of this feature. Spacers only help where wet manifolds are used, meaning carbs or true throttle body injectors (injectors in the throttle body). The Magnum throttle bodies, as well as intakes, are dry (no fuel), therefore, no atomization as would be induced by the spacer in the manifold plenum.

Message: Atomization doesnt occur in the manifold like you said. But a valve has to open to let that fuel in and when it does its meets the air and is supposed to atomize. Doesnt fuel atomize when its gets hot enough anyways?

Message: On www.speedtweaks.ca they were saying the TB spacers don't work for the 3.9/5.2/5.9 engines. There has been NO increase of mpg or hp or torque on any of their dyno tests. They even posted a letter from an exec at Airaid, about the Poweraid spacer, the guy says that it's not supposed to increase torque or hp, so by nothing showing up on dynos, it is doing its job. It may increase torque in the low end (which would show up on a dyno) and could increase mpg (bullsh*t). Now, they go on to say that people have reported increases with the 4.7 engine (which I have). They haven't had a chance to test it yet. I'd say that if I were you, I'd save my money.
