Message: Can anyone help me out with the superchips for the 2003 Dakota R/T.
I got it yesterday, and going through the instruction book, it tells you what the screens are supposed to say and what keys to press.
However, the instruction book says to press 1 thing, and the tuner says to press another.
I called superchips and asked them about the different screens (the instruction book vs the tuner itself). The tech put me on hold, and then came back and said that he talked to the programmer who wrote the program for my truck.
The programmer said that the RPM and Speed limits are automatically increased when you do the tune. My question would have to be, if its automatically set, then why would you give an option to change it in the custom settings menu?
They aslo told me that the RPM range would only go up by about 200RPM?!? is that correct?
The then told me that they could issue an RMA and I could send it to them, and they could make the RPM limit, and speed limit customizable.
Something doesn't seem right here.
I read alot of good things about the tuner but just need a little help.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
Rich

Message: Rich,
I bought one a month ago and received the following from the guy who coordinated the Group Buy. I realize it doesn't directly answer your questions but could be helpful:
"A few people have had to send thiers in to Superchip to get it re-programed. I am sending this to everyone, because I dont know who got thiers back yet. I just want to make sure everyone has the heads up on this.
Here is the responce I got back from a guy who had to do so:
here's the situation with the programmers. Chrysler created hundreds of different programs for these trucks. what happens is that the programmers look at your PCM, downloada the stock program, then matches the program to one of the hundreds of variations loaded onto its memory.
in most cases, the programmer will find the program, then just input the "performance" program onto the PCM, and it is done. what has happened to mine, and others, is that when the programmer downloads the program, it sees that the PCM has a valid program (not like a 95, pre-OBD-II system), but it does not have the specific program that was loaded onto your truck (because there were so many variations). what then
needs to happen is that the programmer has to be sent out, to either put the program in (if it has been recently found or worked on), or to create the program (so if anyone else has this program, it will be on file for them to use, and put into future revisions of the programmer). "

Message: I reported here in the past that I sent one of these back to superchips three times, and they were never able to get it to work in my truck.
Finally was able to get them to reimburse me for the three shippings and full cost for the purchase.
Good Luck, I have great misginvings about this tunner.
