Subject: How easy to install sidesteps? IP: Logged
Message: I'd like to install some tubular sidesteps on my 02 CC. How easy is the install for these? Do they come with good directions or is it a guessing game? Thanks for any help.

Message: I put Westin tubular steps on my 2000 CC, and it took a little less than an hour. The directions were good, but it was self explanatory anyways. The steps have a bracket that bolts on with the body mounts, and then a support which fits in a hole under the body in the center of the step.
I think it was like 5 bolts each side.

Message: The Westins look good. Has anyone tried the Mopar tubular sidesteps? I see they have black , aluminum, or chrome but they seem a bit more expensive than the Westins. Are they just as good?

Message: I bought some Rancho black tubular side steps along with a Rancho brushguard off ebay for $365 which included shipping. It was a terrific deal but the steps were a bear to install as I had to drill holes in the frame for them. However, they are super solid but it took me about 2 hours each step. The brushguard was a breeze though. Mine are black.
Peace,
Rascal

Message: I too have a Club Cab (a 2001) and was thinking of getting the Westins. On the CC do the bars look weird? I have seen some that have pads on them for the driver and then another pad further back as if the extended cab had a door on it and people would be getting out there. I want one that looks right for my truck. What do you guys think about the looks of them on your CC? THanks.

Message: I installed WESTIN Premium side bars and brush bar in black powdercoat. Install was really a breaze. Took about 3 hours total, the look is great [I prefer minimum of 'flash', so no chrome]. All pieces were there and instructions good. No rust spots after about 1-1/2 years of outside Pacific Northwest weather. My only problem was step pad warping which WESTIN warrantied in 2 weeks [see related 'TruckPerformance BOO, WESTIN YES']. Solid and looks really nice,...D

Message: Westin bars are a breeze to install! just a good set of deep well metric sockets and a 1/2" drive torque wrench are all you need to do it right. Will take about an hour to do. Torque the cab mounts back to 45 ft / lbs.
I put a pair of westins on my 2002 SXT club cab and a set on my girfriends 2002 Quad Cab... both were no problem except the Quad has an additional bracket up front. No additional drilling is required.

Message: I've got the westin stainless black powder cated one on my '01 QC 4x4. Easily installed. A word of caution though, I had 1 washer installed wrong on mine, and I had a "creeking" noise, that took 3 trips to the dealer to find. note, the dealer didn't install them, I did. So, make sure everything goes on in the right order!

Message: So how about the Mopar sidesteps? Anyone have those? Also, are there any brands OTHER than Mopar that have a bed-rail/light-bar combo piece? I think that's a nice little setup.
