Subject: 2002 Multi-Speed Auto Tranny "Clunk" IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 2002 4X4 with a 4.7, multi-speed auto tranny, and an anti-slip diff. I'm getting a "clunk" in the rear end when I brake to abot 20-30 km/h. My guy-who-knows-nothing-about-trucks guess is that theres a problem with the downshift from 3 to 2? Dealer says there might be a TSB out for this problem - something to do with the computer. Any ideas?

Message: Dealer says there "might" be a TSB? Seems to me the dealer needs to put some effort out for you and look.

Message: Should have clarified - dealer IS looking into TSB. Thought it might be a good idea to get a second opinion, though. Don't let the secret out, but dealers aren't always the most straight forward guys to deal with.
Thanks.

Message: All the limited-slips I've known about will clunk. My brother used to order all his cars with a limited-slip because he drove in a lot of snow in the winter. All had a clunk. I owned a 91 v8 dak for 11 years with a limited slip. It would clunk once in a while also.
