Message: several problems with a diesel power wagon that i have heard
-the diesel has too much tq for the lockers (doubt it)
-they cant fit the winch in the bumper becuase of the inter-cooler
-for some strange reason they think there wouldn't be a market for it
not sure on the validity of any of it, i do know there isnt much room on my diesel up front with the big old intercooler and big tranny cooler

Anyway I know where you got you name from. They guy who plays in the movie "Bullet".
That reason why Chrysler could not produce a diesel power wagon is BS Super Bee. As a matter of face it’s already been done in the Aftermarket.

"It all fits nicely behind the Fab Fours front bumper."
minor detail, but still
also,
just because something is done in the aftermarket does not mean it can be so easily done in the factory market

Message: But who says its got to be a pig iron 6.7L Cummins. I'll even like the idea of the smaller ISB 4.5L I4 under the hood of the Ram 1500 or PowerWagon. Think about the economy and toruqe on that!

Message: a smaller diesel would not make a difference, unless you went with no intercooler, you still run into the same problem

Message: But you still have just as much underhood space as a HD. So a diesal with a intercooler should still be an option on the 1500.

Message: wait, just as much underhood room?
do you realize the cummins in an Inline 6, it is longer than v8
there is far less room under the hood of my 2003 cummins than that of a 5.7 Hemi
the diesel is jsut a much longer, and larger engine
you may think its narrower being an inline 6
but the turbo hangs off on the passengers side, and the injection pump and intake horn take up the other side
and the intercooler is not under the hood really, it is right behind the grill, in front of the radiator
there is maybe 1/2" space between my bumper and intercooler

Message: also, the 6.7L inline diesel will not fit in the new 1500s
they have a different HD front end because they remodeled the 1500 to the point of not having enough room for the longer inline 6
the new cummins v-8 will fit int he 1500s because it is a v8, not inline
v8s are almost always shorter
the old truck designs had tons for room under the hood for the inline 6 and the v-10
when i looked at my old 2001 1500 there was like 8 inches of space between the engine and the radiator
now that being siad, the new HD rams may have more room in the front for a winch and intercooler with the new design, im not sure of that though

Message: Uh, No SupperBee Joe was talking about the 4.5L ISB Cummins. Now that would be a perfect fit for the Ram-1500 and even a good option for 2500 for just cruising around hauling or towing lighter loads. As a matter or fact even the Dakota might could use a engine that size. Remember, its a 4Cyl and it dosn't take up nearly as much space.
