When they put out the long beds did they use the same fame as the short? the reason im asking is I need to get rid of my long bed its too ugly looking (93 dak v6)

Are you sure about your statement, Yup?
I always thought the long (8 foot) bed was only
on regular cab Dakotas. So that tells me the
frames are the same on all Dakotas.
I may be wrong.. Anyone else have a comment on
that?

Pretty sure. You're right about it only being offered on RC Daks, but why do you draw that conclusion ? I'm thinking at least 2 frame lengths - 1 for RC shortbed, another for RC longbed and extracab shortbed. Otherwise you could have an extracab longbed.

You're correct Yup, there is or was two frame
lengths. I forgot about the 90 Dakota I had with
a regular cab and short (6 foot) box.

running this CC kills me on the weekends because I miss my 8' bed from my 92 Dak. Except, when I had that truck I wanted the CC's room. Damn, why can't you ever get a cab and a half and an 8' bed in a midsized truck!?!?!?! :(

actually there are three as far as the genIII's are concerned. 112" wheelbase in regular cabs, 124" in the longbeds and 131" in the CC shortbeds. source 1997 Dodge showroom sales brochure. Those were the sizes available in "97
