 Subject: need body help!!!!

a couple days ago my 00 dakota got hit at work in the parking lot. the @$$hole crumpled my back end from the beginning of the bed to right infront of the wheel well, I'd say about 2.5 ft wide, 6-8 in deep, and the whole height of the bed, I was wondering if there was any hope of finding a body panel to replace this, or if my only option is to have a body shop pound it out.

I thought of that but it was a hit and run and the insurance person said my insurance would go up to about 700-800/month, which is alitle too expensive for me. I thought a $700-$1500 one time payment would be cheaper then having an accident on my record

to screw you as well! From the looks of your
name, you're in the service. Isn't it nice how
those areas you're stationed at RIP the service
person off?
I went through the same thing while I was in the
service in the 60's. Kinda wish I had them in my
M16 sites insted of the VC.

when that happend to me it was a 200 doller dedutable that would be paded back to me if they ever found the person that did it (i really doubt they will) but my insurence didnt go up and its not on my recerd any were

I think partsamerica.com has a search engine for used parts....
Before I paid $1,500.00 for a body shop to patch your existing bed I would search for a used bed that is in good shape. You might get lucky. The 97's are reaching the "Bone Yard" age. You might really get lucky and find one the right color.

Might try to locate a shop that puts utility beds on trucks. They have new or slightly used take off beds and sell them for about $1500, maybe more. I go by a shop all the time and they usually have a 5 or 6 beds for sale. The shop is in Boulder City, NV, probably not too close to your location.
The bed side panel is welded and glued/epoxied together, so it's going to be a pain to try to fix yourself.

Was the estimate to fix your existing bedside or to repair. A good body man can fix anything regardless of what people say. An insurence company will almost never pay to put a bedside on, but instead to repair it. Review the estimate and see. Repairing it is the best way to go.

You won't find a specific patch panel for that area. That really leaves you with three options. 1. Pay the big bucks for the body shop to fix it. 2. Get a used bed and have it painted to match. 3. Live with it.
As for the insurance company, that's probably true. Insurance companies have the largest profit margin of any company type in the country. And there's a reason for that. Your best bet with them is to carry a very high deductable and a credit card.

I think my bed is in worse shape, i have a 96 sport, the passenger side bed is completely crunched in beyond repair, i can easyily fix it if i could find a new bed side, but its not easy at all. if anyone knows where i could buy a bed side, just the skin please email i would love it, thanks.....
