Subject: auto tran shift hangup IP: Logged
Message: My 1999 Dakota with a V-6, hangs up in the shift pattern after sitting and cooling down or when it is first started. It winds up pretty good before goingto the next gear, then winds up again. In third, it sorta hangs up until I let off the throttle. Not an inconvenience but is this a lead-in to a bigger problem?? After it goes through one or two complete shifts, it seems to be alright. The fluid seems okay and not burned. The truck has 46,000 miles and I am second owner. It does not seem to be abused and at my age I ain't into street drags or anything like that. Advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

Message: I have heard that you need to replace 2 sensors.
Easy work, about $200.
That and a small adjustment of a cable can be related.
Check it using an EZ search on this site under "transmission."
