Id like to know if anyone has converted there gen 2 dakota to a convertible? also, I've heard dodge made convertible dakotas in the late 80's early 90's, is that also true?

Yes they did make convertible Dakotas in 1989. Some were 4 Wheel drive and some 2 Wheel Drive. Im not sure how many. Im Actually looking for a 4 Wheel Drive one so if anybody has one let me know.

Yup, One of my friends has a convertable 4x4 dakota. It is one fun truck to play with. Umm 89Dakotasport, where do you live? Ive seen one for pretty cheap in Clayton NC. One of these days I might go look at it. I live half an hour away and the truck has been for sale for about 9 months now. It might have some problems.

Here’s one. The guy took the top and trims off an 89 and installed them on a 95.

Yes, I took a complete cab off an 89, disassembled it, painted it to match, put it on my 91 and reassembled everything. It looks much better with the Gen 2 front end. Dodge made a few thousand (I don't recall exact numbers) convertible Daks in 89 and 90 in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions. Only 8 were made in 91 to complete the contract between Chrysler and ASC.

I am 18 and have been driving a 1990 dakota convertable. they made 1,118 convertables in 1990. i love the truck i still need to do some work tough. i just reciently put a new 3.9 litre v-6 and a automatic trans. also i changed the top due to leaks. but it still turns heads when i drive. my next venture i hope will be a costum 2000 R\T convertable.

I have a 1990 dodge dakota convertable. i have heard that they only made 5000 all together and i have heard 3000 so i dont know. i have a 4x4 one. and ill sell it. or trade for a 2x4 convertable.

in 89 they made 2390 in 90 they made 1039 in 91 they only made 8 i have a 1990 i am thinking of trading motors with my mom shes got a 360 i put a lightning killer package on what king of mods should i expect to do to the suspention

Have an 89 original dakota convert, 4x4, air, plush interior, all the toys, 6cyl, miles but good condition. don't know numbers in canada (eastern ontario) but have been told they are quite rare up here and will become collector items. have been offered more than what we paid for it in 1994.Robbie

I am a 28 year old Canadian chick with a 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport automatic 4x4 convertable p/u. It is red and black. V6 3.9 litre and is a kick ass 4x4! Pulls the big boys out of the ditch. I live in northern B.C. 4x4 country, snow and mud, etc. I have heard there was only 1500 made in 1989, 600 white and 900 red. I could be wrong, and I have heard of black ones, but who knows what people have done with them. I had no idea they made them in 1990, 1991.

I bought my 89 sport conv. as my first car. 2 months later crashed it. almost 2 years later got the money to fix it. replaced whole front end: fenders, hood, radiator, alt, all hoses, belts, every thing in front of the engin got smashed. had to buy used fenders(they were blue, and the rest was red) so i bught a few cans of paint, primered it and shot it Black with plum crazy purple accents did the inter. to match. still have lots to do to it(NEW TOP, very leaky)This truck will live longer than me.Wouldn't trade it for any thing! Very fun and easy to work on!
