Some people would definitely have to disagree with you on the talent statement, though ;-) I have thought about installing the flares on my Dakota, but the running boards are holding me back for now. I can't find any flares which would mate up to the running boards without any modifications. But, I am thinking about lowering my Dak soon and when I do, the running boards will more than likely have to come off. If they do come off, then I will probably put the flares on. Thanks, Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |

intense99dak Gen III 1/15/2001 07:50:35 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: Yes, this shifter is for the v6's (AX-15) only. There is talk that Hurst makes a shifter for the v8 (NV3500), but no one has been able to find a part number yet. Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |

95DakotaV8 DakotaEnthusiast 1/15/2001 20:28:32 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: I believe they do use the same for light duty trucks, even the 1500s use the NV3500. 3/4 tons use NV4500. Does anyone know if B&M makes something? I suppose I could do the research myself but if someone already knows where to point, that would help. KJR |
intense99dak Gen III 1/15/2001 22:26:02 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: Bob, I'm not sure if they use the same manual transmission or not, but would tend to think that they do. I found the following on another site about the Hurst shifter for the NV3500. I haven't heard or seen anything else. [snip]I had E-mailed Mr. Gasket Performance at www.mrgasket.com back on 12/8/00 and they E-mailed me back that the part was on back order 6-8 weeks and when they could get it , it would run me $275.00. The part no. they gave me was 391-0155.[snip] I hope this helps a little ;-) Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |

intense99dak Gen III 1/22/2001 22:41:30 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: From Jegs.com it was $182.9x if I remember correctly. Add about $9 for s/h. The price which was quoted for the v8 shifter under this thread is wrong. It is in the area of $176. Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |
Jerry Dodge Dakota 9/08/2001 11:22:54 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: I am going to try and install a NV3500 transmission in my streetrod behind a 340 engine. The transmissionis out of a 98 dodge truck but they are unsure if it came out of a dakota or a 1500. Do you think this transmission is strong enough for that engine? I am also going to try and install the hurst shifter with it. |
Dave Dodge Dakota 9/09/2001 21:51:53 | RE: Hurst shifter installed IP: Logged Message: Guys, Got a Hurst shifter for my '97 5.2 off Ebay, brand new for $160. Went in like a dream.Works great, a little noisey tho.Remember, the stock shifter tower is plastic and the shifter ball has a rubber boot on it.The Hurst unit is all steel so you will get a little more noise transmitted into the cab. However, in 4th and 5th it's just as quiet as the stock unit.Throws are a lot shorted and more positive. Can finally chirp third with my 275/60-15's and posi.If you can find one,go for it! One tip tho; bolt the chrome stick onto the right side of the shifting stick(the short one) otherwise it will hit the ashtry (if it's open) going into 5th.Any other questions, fell free to Email me. A few years ago I managed to find a Hurst Competition Plus shifter that was used on ebay. I bought it and installed it, It worked great, but the bolts on the base rattled loose and broke, so I had togo back to my stocker. I haven't been able to find another one. I did however find a shifter for the Chevy 1/2 ton nv3500. Same base, but I'm not sure if the shifer is longer, anyway, heres the part # for the chevy one HUU-3910121, Running about $205 from Jegs, Summit, most other perf. websites |
